New Blue “Chill Out” Space

Our goal was to take a musty basement "junk space" and turn it into a cozy and safe "hang out" for the parents and new baby

We moved a lot of old unsafe wiring, shifted the location of the heat pipes, and rerouted the drain pipes. We also insulated the perimeter of the basement to reduce drafts up on the 1st floor.

We built the shelving in our shop. Besides a great place to display art and books, the new casework hides most of the heat pipes and drain pipes. The wall cap and trim are custom finished cherry

An ERV ( Energy Recovery Ventilator) exchanges heat or a/c with the new fresh air as it enters the room. No reason to waste good energy!

The crew milled the head casings over the doors to match the casings upstairs.

A functional hang-out space for parents and baby

Steve, Tova, Asher and the crew were extremely professional and responsive. They were easy to get in touch with and thoughtful and flexible about developing solutions, both proactively and reactively. They consulted us about any change they had to make so there were no surprises and found the balance of how much we wanted to be included in the design process vs how much we wanted them to lead…..
