Everyone loves indoor/outdoor living during the warmer months. And ever since the pandemic hit, homeowners are looking for ways to expand their living areas and create safer spaces to spend time with friends/family. This porch transformation achieved both of those goals!
This Newton home had a glass sunroom with a hot tub that was never used. The masonry was crumbling and at least one glass panel had broken and couldn’t be replaced. Although the house is lovely, the porch area was ready for an update.
We worked with the homeowners to design a new screen porch that would provide them with the perfect outdoor entertaining space – one that would blend seamlessly with the existing home and add value to their property.
Once the design was approved we moved onto demolition – which didn’t take long since the structure was already cracked and crumbling.
We started construction last summer and started by carefully covering the windows and door into the main house. From there we could begin construction.
Over the next several weeks we framed out the new structure and then got down to the details – including custom-cutting trim boards to match the rest of the home. Custom screens and a ceiling fan were installed for great air flow.
Attention to detail is important in every job. We added copper (glinting in the sun below) to the roof of the porch to match the home.
The completed porch is spacious and has plenty of room for separate dining and lounging areas. The custom mahogany door lines up perfectly with the porch structure.
The interior is stunning. Recessed LED lights and a Minka Aire Cone LED Ceiling Fan are found on the sky blue ceiling.
In the end, we’re thrilled with how the project turned out and know that the homeowners are anxious for the weather to warm up a little more to start using it again this spring! To see more pictures of this project CLICK HERE.
